What does it do?
Command Prompt Tool is a small utility that adds a “Command Prompt” item to the context menu on folders in Windows Explorer. When selected, Command Prompt Tool opens a new Command Interpreter (cmd.exe) in the selected directory.
Features
The tool is a simple registry-hack, which I find myself performing on lots of computers, so I packaged it up to make the installation easier. There are a number of similar tools out there on the web, but this one offers the following features which others may not:
- Easy to use installation wizard - no messing around with regedit required
- Only attaches to directory context menus, not all context menus as with some tools.
- Uninstallable through the standard Windows Add/Remove Programs Control Panel applet.
Requirements
Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP. May work with Windows NT 4, but I haven't been able to check this out.
Will not work with Windows 9x, as it depends on the cmd.exe Command Interpreter being present.
Download
The most recent version of Command Prompt Tool is version 1.0.
